My lawyer will file my divorce papers with the court January 9, 2006. This means that my attorney has been paid in full and that my ex-wife finally signed the forms.
Any guesses as to how much longer I must wait for it to be official now that all the legwork is done?
A week? A month? I don't know.
That is the problem. No one, not even my lawyer, knows for sure. Once the document is registered, it sits in the courthouse waiting for some judge to simply sign it. It is possible that my divorce could not be authorized for eight months or more because the judges are too busy to find two-minutes to put pen to paper!
So how do I really feel about this? Once I have that paper in my hand, I’ll be so happy I’ll forget how angry this situation made me and how screwed up the whole court system truly is and do nothing about it. I am Canadian
