I should have brought my camera to Calgary’s best open mic comedy show. Not to record my sub-par set, but there were so many out of town professional comedians at the show. Add to that all the local pros and new comers… I would have really added to my photo album.
Last time I was in Calgary, Comedy Monday Night was located at a different venue. Let me tell you, I really like the new set up. The Broken City Social Club has a warm and inviting atmosphere which is perfect for comedy.
The show was hosted by Allyson Smith. Performing with me was Dan Guiry, Darryl Purvis, Damonde Tschritter, Casey Corbin, Scott Dumas and Simon King.
The bar had a healthy crowd of non-comics including one of my favorite Calgarians Kerry Rasmussen. There were an even healthier gathering of comedians: Cory Mack, Darryl Makk, Richard Glen Lett, Amanda Brooke Perrin, Chris Gordon, Brent Hall, Donovan Deschner and of course the man who produces this show James Moore. I know I am missing someone but I must blame that on the lack of caffeinated coffee.
