Day Three was RELAXING

No time on the road today. Instead I slept in until 9:00 then went for breakfast.

The restaurant is about a 900 m walk from the Econo Lodge where I am staying. While I enjoy the stroll, I worry about crossing the 4 lanes of busy one-way traffic in front of the hotel. Add to that the ice on the road and you have a full size version of Frozen Frogger.

Denny’s is a sad place. The servers are all frowning. The cooks are miserable. The bus boys are gloomy. Then there is the manager. He is walking around trying to cheer people up with a stupid looking fake smile on his face. Do you remember those annoying guys in school who always tried to act cool and be funny? Trouble is they were so naturally uncool and lacked any sense of timing and humour they were simply irritating. This was that guy. To be honest, it was very entertaining. He would try to give a waitress a quick pep talk followed by a joke. She would feign a smile and as soon as he was gone roll her eyes.

Once I got back to my room, I ironed my shirts, downloaded party poker and worked on some new jokes.

Dave Stanitchy picked me up to take me to the show. He is one of the local comics I really enjoy performing with, always smiling, very funny and he really enjoys being onstage.
There were 3 different companies having their Christmas parties at The Comedy Factory: about 170 people. They were a great crowd. There were two drunken girls who wouldn’t shut up. If they were guys, they are easy to shut up. Hit them once; if they keep chatting you slam them harder. Usually they are quiet after that. But I am such a wimp when it comes to women. I did have some pleasant banter with them and got a few laughs at their expense. It was ok… They didn’t really understand they were being made fun of. They were so drunk.
