I arrived at the Edmonton airport last Wednesday safe and sound thanks to the good people at West Jet, my new favorite airline. Not because the flight attendants are genuinely friendly and enthusiastic about their job. Not because the leather seats have headrests that not only lift up, the sides angle in to “hug” your head. The real reason is the digital TV’s in the back of every chair. The 3 hour 56 minute flight seemed to fly by (sorry for the bad pun).
While I am waiting for my luggage I hear a grizzly voice say: “You’re the comic right”? I turn to see a big smile on a rough looking guy with long hair and a beard who looked like he lived in the mountains. Turns out that was my ride.
Comedian Rick Reed and I left immediately on a 5-hour trek to perform at the Grande Prairie Casino. Rick is a very interesting guy who actually lives in a log cabin on the side of a mountain. He has been in the comedy business for 25 years. Before that he was a logger, bar owner, sales man and served 14 months in Viet Nam. We were in a car together for over 10 hours and we never turned the radio on.
At the Comedy Factory…
My weekend headlining at the club was great. Got to work with some very funny comedians and make some more new friends.
No shows until Wednesday when I take off to Slave Lake. The fun should continue…
